“Viewpoint” is dedicated to all the forested hikes I’ve done — tripping on roots, hearing the wind move through the canopy, deceptively like the ocean, layered over the sound of my own breathing.
You walk for hours through what feels like a never-ending tunnel of green until, finally, the trees open. The reward isn’t always a summit. Sometimes it’s a place where the mountain suddenly sits below you and a river winds into the distance until it disappears into the horizon. An entire valley condensed into something that feels almost unreal.
That moment makes the climb worth it.
It’s my favourite kind of trail.
