There may never be a good enough explanation for why some of us find the company of trees, especially those in a forest, so profound.
A forest has always felt like a sacred place to me. I enter one much as I would a church — quietly, reverentially, with an inexplicable but certain sense that I am in powerful company.
This forest scene took shape as I worked from my reference photo, evolving as I painted. The process was immersive, much like painting Serenity, my mountain landscape, where I explored the interplay of light and shadow.
With Where the Light Finds You, I wanted to capture something of that feeling of being surrounded by a presence greater than yourself.
